About the programme

A good sound from the very first lesson

Our 1-to-1 violin lessons are fully personalised to each student's learning style, pace and goals. There is no fixed script: Teacher Oliver plans every lesson around the student in front of him, so progress is steady, visible and genuinely enjoyable.

The violin rewards good habits early. Every student builds a secure foundation first: how to hold the instrument and the bow, a clear and even sound, posture that stays comfortable, listening for intonation, and rhythm that keeps time. From there, lessons grow with the student, whether the goal is ABRSM exams, playing in an ensemble, or simply the music they love.

Lessons follow the same structure and the same fee ladder as our piano lessons, so families with children on both instruments know exactly where they stand.

What students learn

  • A comfortable, healthy hold of the violin and bow
  • A clear, even tone and a steady bow arm
  • Listening for intonation and playing in tune
  • Rhythm and a steady sense of pulse
  • Reading music and sight-reading that grows week by week
  • Expressive, musical playing, not just the right notes

Who it is for

1-to-1 violin lessons are suitable for all ages, from young beginners to adults:

  • Children starting the violin for the very first time
  • Students working through the ABRSM grades
  • Teens and adults learning for the joy of it
  • Players who want to join an ensemble or orchestra one day
