My daughter was previously enrolled in the NAFA School of Young Talent, but after a year, her interest in piano declined. Despite engaging various teachers, her progress remained limited. Following a year-long hiatus, we began lessons with Teacher Jovanna, who successfully rekindled my daughter's interest and enthusiasm for piano learning. It is unfortunate that Teacher Jovanna no longer offers home-based lessons, as her teaching has made a significant and positive impact.

I am so grateful that Teacher Sarah is our piano teacher. Although she may be a bit strict, she still makes the lesson very enjoyable. Her patience, guidance and humor really makes me look forward to every lesson. In between our lessons sometimes, she also gives us some of her own life experiences, this makes the lesson more interesting. I am always keen to learn new things with Teacher Sarah. 😆

We are incredibly grateful for Teacher Jovanna. She has a rare gift for making lessons engaging and fun, and we've watched our daughter's self-assurance blossom under her guidance. I switched Ellie over to Teacher Jovanna because I wanted a teacher who places a strong emphasis on proper technique and developing musicality. Teacher Jovanna has far exceeded my expectations and transformed the way Ellie learns the piano and music. What I really appreciate about Teacher Jovanna is her focus on building a strong musical foundation, including: Proper technique, such as finger placement, wrist and arm movement, usage of arm weight, posture; Aural training, encouraging students to actively listen to the sound they produce; Teaching students how to analyse the score before sight-reading; Developing musical expression, not just note accuracy. Beyond that, what truly sets Teacher Jovanna apart is her ability to explain musical concepts in a way that genuinely clicks for young children. She sparks their imagination through imagery, analogies and storytelling. One memorable example was when she told Ellie 'Want to know a secret? C Major and A minor are actually sisters', making the idea of shared key signatures both fun and easy to remember. She doesn't just teach her how to play, but helps her to understand how the music is meant to sound and feel like. With Teacher Jovanna, the music comes alive and Ellie looks forward to lessons with her every week. Teacher Jovanna strikes a wonderful balance between strong technical training and creative, engaging teaching. Thanks to her guidance and genuine care for how a child learns, Ellie is developing both solid technique and a deep musical understanding.

Jovanna has been a wonderful piano teacher for Charlie. She has such a natural way of engaging her and making every lesson fun and interactive. I really appreciate how she constantly adapts her teaching style to keep things fresh, whether it's using flash cards, games, or even getting Charlie to stand up, clap and move around to better understand music theory. It makes learning music feel playful and exciting rather than rigid. Charlie always looks forward to her lessons, and that says a lot!

With Teacher Jo, my young daughters have refound interest in piano. She is patient, gentle and nurturing with them. They enjoy her sense of humour. At the same time, their piano playing has improved!

Teacher Jovanna has been an outstanding piano teacher to Mika, consistently sparking her interest and joy in learning the instrument. Before starting lessons with you, Noah was still quite new to playing the piano and sometimes found it difficult to stay focused and practise consistently. Since learning with you, I've seen him become much more confident and interested in playing, and he is now more willing to practise and learn new songs. I especially love seeing how happy he is when he can play a full song or his favourite song by himself or when he learns something new. Finding Jovanna as our piano teacher has honestly been such a special experience for both me and my 7-year-old daughter. I used to play the piano many years ago, but after stopping for more than a decade, I thought that part of my life was probably behind me. Somehow, through Jovanna’s lessons, I found my way back to the piano again. She has helped me rediscover a passion that I had almost forgotten, and I genuinely look forward to playing and learning again. It feels wonderful to have music back in my life. But what touches me most is seeing how much my daughter has fallen in love with the piano too. I used to think that getting a 7-year-old to practise would mean constant reminders, but with her, it’s completely the opposite. I don’t have to ask her to practise at all — she goes to the piano on her own because she genuinely wants to play. Seeing her enjoy music so naturally makes me incredibly happy. It’s hard to believe that we have been learning with Jovanna for less than three months because both of us have improved so much in such a short time. She is patient, encouraging and has a beautiful way of teaching that makes us want to keep improving without ever making piano feel like a chore. More than anything, I’m grateful that Jovanna has given my daughter and me something very special that we can share together. We learn, practise and enjoy music together, and these are memories that I know I will treasure for many years. My son, 4 took a couple of lessons here and what I observed of Ms Jo was nothing short of excellent. Her teaching method, style and remarkable patience shows maturity and professionalism well beyond her years. Lessons were fun and engaging with never a dull moment. I only wish that we were able to continue. If anyone is looking for a piano school whether you are a child or an adult, I cannot recommend this enough.

Very patient and extremely professional in the way she teaches and guides students - that is teacher Sarah. Even for adults - whom I believe are harder to teach - teacher Sarah makes it a breeze to learn. Glad to have found teacher Sarah through Polaris Music Academy.
